Well I couldn't post yesterday so here is that post...
It is a rainy, cold and raw day in Zhengzhou City. I should use that to open a story!
Well, today I took lots of pictures of our travels but I should have thought twice about how to dress for the weather today. I was certain that today would be a different kind of day since I cooked breakfast this morning. As my son told me today me cooking is kind of rare here. We started the day with pancakes and then went for our ride to the very first Dashang Super Market that we went to with Qi Yan in August. That particular one has a Watson’s which is a chain of stores that are similar to a drug store in the states with one large exception and that is that to get medicine you go to a pharmacy here where a drug store in the states has become more of a connivance store but it also has over the counter remedies. Anyway, while we were in Hong Kong, I did some price checking and the price for vitamin C was less at Watson’s but I didn’t know if I would find Vitamin C here or only in a pharmacy. I did, and we found lots of other things too. A friend in the states, hi Amber, asked me to get some things for her and her children (her daughter is fluent in Chinese) so I’ve been looking for some Chinese school materials to send her and I hit the jackpot today. Chuck and Nate found two book stores after they finished in the pharmacy. We divided and conquered today, while I was at Watson’s they went to the pharmacy to get something’s that we needed. They found not only two book stores, but three bakeries and a public toilet. I am obsessed with the street address now that I can read them a little and have been looking for those blue signs on the buildings we pass. We left our bikes locked outside the first book store and then went walking on the street that way we could see more of the stores and take pictures something difficult on bikes. I hope to go back to those book stores with my tutor, perhaps we can find books that I can read in Chinese that would be a challenge but not leave me frustrated. It’s hard knowing about 150 Characters and wanting to read like I do English books. I know be patient and in time I’ll get there. Maybe I should use that opening sentence in the story that I want to write in Chinese? Hmmm could be on to something here.
