12 DAYS & COUNTING

8/12/2012

Not long now. In 12 days we will get on a plan in the early morning hours and start our trek to China.  We are mostly all packed and very eager to get to going.  The hardest thing is staying here while we wait for the time to go.  Chuck and I will teach our last karate classes this week and hand the reins of the school over to my sister who will be handling the office manager duties, and our business partner who will be handling the teaching side of things.  Already I said my good byes to some of my tutorial students and I'm getting ready to transition to Skype calls to tutor another student.

Do check out this blog in the next few weeks as I will be putting out details of our homeschool day.  I can tell you that we are using Spectrum by Carson Dellosa for Math and Science.  I am using the Spectrum Math for tutoring and I really like how everything is laid out nicely and it is easy to understand.  Please check out Carson-Dellosa Publishing at http://www.carsondellosa.com
We will be using http://www.spellingcity.com/  this year for spelling and vocabulary.  And I will be using my home school tracker HTTP://WWW.HOMESCHOOLTRACKER.COM/REFER.ASPX?8A4L5
to keep everything just so this year.

Something unrelated that I found out about this week has to do with the Olympics.  We have all seen the athletes biting their medals, but do you know why?  Two reasons were mentioned.  1. As a way to identify the medal(s) should they be lost  2.  So the athletes can keep track of which medal is for what event. Neat huh?  I thought so.  Enjoy the closing ceremonies.
