The day before we took the subway (very much like Hong Kong’s MTR) to the north station and once there we got a hotel in the city close by the station. When it was check out time we left and got a taxi to take us to the north train station where we waited for about three hours for our train. During our wait at the station we had lunch from KFC and any number of drinks from vendors and machines. Once on the train was awesome and an experience for all of us. This was our first time sitting in first class as these were the only tickets left. Hint: try not to travel on the last weekend of the summer! I’m sure that travel would be even more special if we were trying to get back to Zheng Zhou 郑州 some time today. It is a 7 hour train ride and I was able to document our travel and the names of the nine stops we stopped at. Each time we did stop we were encouraged to not get off the train as stops are lightening fast and getting off could mean you miss your train.
The stops: Dong Guan, Guan Dong, Chen Zhou Shi, Chang Shan Nan Zhan, Wu Han, Zhu Ma Dian Xi, Luo He Xi, and finally home in Zheng Zhou.
Yesterday we went to the store. Before we left we ate everything so we had bare cupboards when we got back. Most of the boxes Chuck sent back from the US arrived while we were gone and we have had an interesting time of it getting new storage facilities to put away the treasures that came.
