"It's snowing," called out Chuck when he got up to look out this morning. The weather said that there was a chance of snow flurries, but we got a significant amount of snow. Sunday here and today we all worked with Michael my tutor; he is such a good sport! Chuck has been asking me how to say things in Chinese and sometimes I was uncertain about my pronunciation so I told him we’d as Michael, well today was that day. We learned how to say our address in Chinese so we can get a taxi home now, we also learned how to order French fries at one of the local food shops. We had to run right out and try our some of our new tricks today and as soon as the tutor left and we had eaten lunch we got on our bikes (even though it is snowing today) and rode down to the Gongren Market. While on our way home we stopped at Big Face which is where Chuck tried ordering and got 3 orders of French fries. It was there that I noticed these blue signs on the buildings with Chinese characters and a number underneath. These are the street address of the buildings and I was able to read 工人路 Gongren Lu or road and the numbers underneath were the building address. After seeing that I noticed those little blue signs on every building we passed I even noticed and took pictures of that one near Big Face and the one outside our apartment complex. Just as I suspected the first character is part of another word that I learned in my tutoring and the second is the character for person the last is LU which is found on the end of any street that is a road. I can’t wait for it to warm up and go out for longer each day and see how much I can read! Now for the fun part, I wrote two haiku based on our outing today, really don't feel much like doing more writing than that.
