‘Hello everybody’, I’ll start this entry like my favorite radio host Karl Haas when he opened his radio show Adventure’s in Classical Music on the best radio station in the Washington DC area WGMS or Washington’s Good Music Station. Well yesterday was Monday the start of the work week here in China and my first class of the week I do so enjoy teaching the teachers at Henan University of Technology. We had a new addition to our class yesterday, her name is Ashley and she had lots of questions. On the way home from school I sat with Vivien another of my students and this time it was her that got to do the teaching. See my tutor Carol or Zhufang 朱芳 told me that I know enough Chinese now that I should be able to read children’s books that have the characters and pinyin so I have gotten two different stories. The one I had last night was “Around the world in 80 Days” and with Vivien’s help on words I didn’t know I was able to read the first page of that book.
Today was also great. Nate and I rode our scooters to the Zhengzhou University bookstore and got some books for him and some for me and we had a snack out at Abnormal Frie on the way home. Once we got home, Chuck came in shortly from his classes on the new campus and then he made lunch. I played a computer game for a little while then got to thinking that I should message my friend at the music store and see if he can help me out. See my other friend Vivien (the lady on the bus) asked me a few weeks ago to play for a Graduation Party and of course I said yes. Well, it will be super convent to just get the school bus to go up to the campus so today I went to the music store and bought a hard shell guitar case. The awesome thing is that it is lighter than my hard cases back in the states. Now I am all set for this and many other gigs that I will play here in China. I also got to play two songs while at Starlight Music this afternoon, “Landslide” which is a Stevie Nicks song that I’m doing for the party and “Past the Stars and to the Moon” which is a song I wrote two years ago and sang often when we were in GA at Rev. Coffee in Smyrna.
Now though I better make sure that all of my Chinese homework is in order as tomorrow is my lesson day.
Bye for now…
