It’s raining, it's pouring the old man is snoring. It's raining here today. Last night we got our Wi-Fi situation taken care of so Nate, Chuck, and I can be online at the same time.
Today will be my first day teaching a class at the college called Business English Negotiations. The suggestion of my boss is to use today as a day to get to know the students. I’m going to ask them to write for me a one paragraph introduction of them to me. I want to know how much English they know and a little of what they plan to do with their English; do they already have job offers when they get out of school or will they have to market themselves to get jobs. Or do they plan to go to the US or some other English speaking countries. The classes that I will be teaching are for 2nd year students so perhaps they will have some knowledge of English. I’ve been told to write everything I want them to do on the board and to repeat myself so there is no doubt of what is expected of them. I have a feeling that this class will start out moving slowly but as we all feel more comfortable we will be able to go a bit faster. I am excited; I know that with my belief in God and knowledge that He will never give me more than I can do, this is something that I can do. I only need to get out of God’s way and allow Him to work through me. I will not discuss my religious views with any students as that would be frowned upon and I don’t know what the repercussions would be nor do I want to find out. We haven’t gotten Nate up yet, but soon so can start his day.
For school today he will have: Math, Lang. Arts, History, Chinese, Journal writing, and Spelling. I've given him Chinese, let me get over to work on my Chinese. I'm sure that by the virtue of having classes with Chinese students I will learn Chinese faster. Over the weekend I learned a few new words. Directions on street signs: Bei means North, Nan means South, Dong means East, and Xi means West. The word 'LU' mean road. The old campus is on "Songshan Nanlu". This is how we would see it on a sign in America is this "South Songshan Road". Pretty cool. I've also learned some of the sign language for numbers. Off to get more numbers...
