Yan Die (Diana) and Yang Huan
Today I met Yan Die (Diana) and Yang Huan on the old campus and went to the tailor to get my pants altered. I go back later today to pick them up. I also intended to treat them as a thank you for working with me I was going to get them an early lunch. Diana picked up the tab for our Bowza’s but I insisted on getting our drinks and Nate’s lunch. Nate finally got his meat on a stick. Going down Yihe Lu the stores next to the campus have been torn down. The air was thick with dust from the demolition because even though this is the weekend work continues. We did see one company that hadn’t relocated yet and were sitting with all of their store things in front of their closed store. I wonder what is going in to the place and when it will be finished. Building starts are great here but it tends to take a long time to complete a job. Chuck found out that he is faster on bike than walking so he rode down to meet us. After that we walked up and I showed them where the big machines were tearing down the buildings. The cranes had the jack hammer attachment on them and the shovel attachments were laying by the side of the road waiting.
We all went to Vanguard tonight and got our fixings for Taco Night in China. Nate has been having dreams about tacos and today we made his 11 year old dreams come true. Chuck ordered taco sauce, and crunchy taco shells and today we got the meat, tomato, lettuce and cheese (couldn’t find sour cream) and had as close to authentic a taco night as we could. After we got the food at Vanguard I rode over to the school’s old campus to get my pants from the tailor and they look wonderful. They are stir-up pants and the waist has been taken in, I can’t wait for school so I can wear my pants with my boots. I was going to take pictures of the demolition while I was out there but I forgot until I got back to the house and I was locking up my bike. I’ll try to get out tomorrow and take pictures the demolition will be finished and the clean up underway but the pictures should still be good. I’m hoping that they haven’t put up a wall around the construction site yet.
Today Nate slept late and Chuck went to get treated to breakfast
by Johnny. They went to Dico’s a
chicken place here that is similar to KFC but a Chinese business and a little less costly. They also have donuts that are on the pricy side. When
Nate and I did get going this morning we went by Yihi Lu to see the demo site and get some pictures this morning. I have them and will put them up. We then went to our favorite meat on a stick vendor her name is Ms.
Li. From there we went to the photo shop to get a picture printed.
My favorite picture of Jeannine my sister with Janna her daughter and
Nate my son at the Synergy Center in Cobb County getting ready to see a
performance by Kennesaw State University. We will go back this afternoon to get the picture as they were backed up and couldn’t print until later today. After that we went to the market on Gongren Lu. There we got face cleaner for me, lotion for Chuck, a pencil case for me, a toilet paper holder and more tp. I looks like the holder we got is water proof and we are going to test it, it is then we will put our toilet paper in it and keep that in the bathroom. I hope it is, I miss keeping extra tp in the bathroom. I also took pictures of public restroom signs while we were out today. Restrooms are all over and in most there is a handicapped toilet that is an American Style toilet.
I just got a book today. Anne Rivers Siddons “Up Island” I just finished “Off Season” and am looking forward to reading this. This just shows that we really don’t have to depend on finding a local book seller, although I would like to, to read English books.
