Today we took three busses to get to CBD or the central business district in the east or new section of the city. We found places for me to practice piano and a place for Nate and me to go skating. Today was also the first day of classes for Nate, the big 9th grader in high school this year.
Nate has seven classes this year: English 9 Creative writing, Chinese, Algebra I, Chemistry I, Photography, American History, and Physical Education. He told us on our way home today that when he said he wanted to study photography he just wanted to take pictures and not have to learn about F-stops’ and lens settings. Oh Well, but he is not the only person in our household to get his school assignments.
Chuck and I also got our teaching timetables from the university. We don’t start until week six and I have some classes that begin on week ten. We both plan on working into our classes talking with another foreign teacher and having our students write then read their favorite vacation spots.

Awesome things happened today. I went to Wanda Plaza to teach a piano Master Class where the students played. They played pieces by Dvorak, MacDowell, Scarlatti, Chopin, and Bach. They played very well, the one thing that I noticed is that there doesn’t seem to me much or volume change in their playing. They all had wonderful pedal technique. After the Master Class was over I played for an hour in a practice room that was pure heaven!
Before they played I had lunch and ordered in Chinese. I got zha jinag mian he lv cha or 炸酱面和绿茶, noodles with sauce and green tea.
When I got home I found out that today is alien movie day. We watched Battleship and are looking at Transformers Dark of the Moon and then perhaps we will watch Pacific Rim.
