Yesterday was interesting, we did go out with the Chen’s and we did have a good time. I am a creature of organization and put into my android calendar that we were to meet at 6pm on Sunday and even went so far as to say that often Friday night. Well I was taking a nap on Sunday afternoon about 4:30 and I get a phone call from Li Feng (Mrs. Chen) to say that they were waiting for us downstairs. To that I said we agreed on 6 and she said no, 5. I then told her that we would not be able to do anything until 6 as we were busy until that time. She had to come back at 5:45 to get us and we spent a pleasant few hours in her office, she teaches Chinese to 1st graders in a public primary school and her office is in a large room with desks for the teachers to use. We stayed there until her husband got there and we went to dinner. Now we ate a light dinner before we left the house so all that was really needed was a snack. What we had was a dumpling sampling with about 5 different kinds of dumplings. I am glad that we rode our scooters as I was so stuffed from sampling I don’t know if I could have pedaled my bike. After the meal we went to the play yard in their apartment complex and let the boys have more fun playing.
Today we went to the new campus and Chuck turned in his grades for the semester. The awesome thing is that Michael, one of my admin/teachers that I taught this semester told us of a game room for teachers that he has the key for. The game room has two ping pong tables, a TV, and a dart board. We had fun playing ping pong while we waited for Echo to come to work so Chuck could do his grades. After playing awhile, Nate and I got thirsty and went to get water from the vending machines across the quad and we ran into Bella, a roommate of Nate’s Chinese teacher. We went into a teacher’s lounge to rest and found Walter chilling there. We talked with him until Chuck called to say that he was finished, he came to where we were and we went to lunch. After eating we strolled around campus and made it next to the library! This building has been and is still under construction but before today there was always a wall of building materials keeping us away. Today that wall was gone and since it was after lunch the workers were resting and we were able to walk next to the building. We then caught the 45 city bus home. It’s Nate and I for dinner as Chuck is out with a colleague discussing her book project and having dinner.
