It has been a rainy week here in Zhengzhou Tuesday night it rained and today Thursday for most of the day although it has stopped now. I started an English student whom I will be tutoring over the summer, she takes English in school (middle school 8th grade) and she is good but her pronunciation is in need of some help. I will of course be continuing with my own Chinese tutoring with Nate also taking summer lessons from Carol. His tutor is on vacation for the summer so he will be joining me.
School is out for Nate and many of the children in China and now the dull days of summer are upon them. Dull and as hot as Death Valley, most days the temps are in the 30-40 Celsius range and for you other Fahrenheit user that is dang hot. I just did some quick research and found that we are on the Huang Huai Plains in the east and south. To our west is Mount Songshan and to the north is the Yellow River.
We are quickly approaching our 1 year anniversary here in China. It almost doesn’t seem real that a year ago we were in America getting ready for our trip abroad and not knowing what we would find. To my friends who read my blog, we are very blessed to have this chance to come to China teach English, American Culture and learn first hand Chinese and China’s rich culture. We signed contracts in May for another year so we will be here again next year and again I will post to my blog. I will continue to take pictures and document our stay here but honestly some of the things that seemed so very amazing to us a short 12 months ago are just part of everyday life here in China now. A year ago writing in our bedroom watching our neighbor on building 4 pacing up and down on his roof for exercise would have seemed strange, today I’m thinking that has lots of sense, you don’t have to walk down 14 flights of stairs to get exercise and when you are finished you just go home.
Remember stay tuned, same Bat Channel, same Bat Time for news on your favorite American’s living in China.
