Tuesday and I teach today too. Right now I’m doing the wash and we have an odor of rotten eggs in the apartment that I can’t seem to locate. It started when I ran the washer to get rusty water out of the pipes (we had a water outage yesterday) Later this morning I’m going to ride over to where we can make copies and get a copy of my syllabus printed so that I can give that to my boss and he will have in writing my plan for this class. If this works well I won’t have to go into the school early today. I’m just printing one for him and keep one for myself so that I can always know what I’m to be teaching the kids and I can mark on it if I do something different on any given day. Chuck’s speaking classes yesterday had a book assigned to them that would work well for the first half of my class as I’m trying to get the class to do more talking in English. I’m not sure if I will ask if we can get this book or see how we are doing without a book, I think if they contact one another outside of class and practice their English then we should be alright, but of course they will get out of the class what they put into it.
Yesterday was my first day with my new Chinese Tutor Diana. She is a college student and we are trading English practice for her with Chinese for me. She taught me a few basic words but even more exciting to me was she also taught me how to write the characters in Chinese for these words. I taught her some words and how to spell them too, but her command of English is much better than mine of Chinese. I can't wait for our next lesson and I really need to get in touch with a tutor for Nate as well.
I was reminded this morning as I stopped outside the old campus to see
Qi Yan that there are quite a few assistants who are helping us get around town and settling in over here. I’ve talked about Qi Yan a lot and she is fantastic, but there are others I am good with the names of the females but not the males. Sorry guys. Cherry is an assistant as are three or four guys and one more young lady; then of course Diamond and now Diana.
I’m sure that I will get all of their pictures with all the time we will be spending over here. I also plan to get the pictures of other English Teachers. We are family right now and I want everyone to know who David and Walter are. I met Donna today, she is from the UK and she is here with her family. Her husband teaches too and they are homeschooling their daughter. I finally remembered to take pictures of my classes today. All of them contribute to my enjoyment as I teach them each Tuesday. Just got a picture of Ms. Qi Yan the assistant who has been so very helpful in our getting adjusted in our new house. You are family Qi Yan, we love you!
