Hello we just got back from seeing our first movie in China! Nate and I decided to have lunch at Starbuck’s so we rode our scooters up to Wanda Plaza and went to Starbucks for lunch while Chuck was on the new campus. It turned colder so he decided to have lunch on the old campus with a new teacher today and then he joined up with us at WP where we were just going to look around. As you may or may not know the new Star Trek ‘Into the Darkness’ came out here yesterday May 28. We had heard that there were times that movies can be seen at the Wanda Cinema in English and we just were going to see at what times the English movies were played and we got there just as the English playing of Star Trek was starting so we got tickets and went to watch. Nate has become a ‘Trekkie’ and wants to get all the movies so he can be more knowledgeable about people that were first brought up in the series and appeared in the movie. I won’t spoil it for those of you who want to see the movie but I had read that it wasn’t much of a movie and I heartily disagree this was an amazing movie and J.J. Abrams did his homework in Star Trek lore. It has been a long time since I watched a 3D movie complete with the glasses and this was lots of fun, I was going to try to read some of the subtitles, but I got so into the movie that I forgot most of the time that they were even there. When we get the DVD it will be interesting to see how close to correct the translations are.
After that it was getting close to dinner time and we took a drive to the Hot and Sour Rice Noddle shop that Chuck and I went to in January I think? Anyway, Nate had not been and he found out that hot isn’t a joke at this shop. The food was too much for him and he had to stop eating. Chuck managed to order me a bowl of noodles without any hot peppers in it at all. This confirms my first thought that I’m not a fan of rice noodles but the broth was amazing. My BFF Ellen would have been upset as the noodle dish was garnished with peanuts, hazelnuts and sesame seeds. Not good if you have an allergy or as Chuck pointed out not good if you have no teeth to chew with. We came home after that and sprayed our scooters with oil to keep them in working order and Chuck sprayed our bike chains too. Since we got the scooters the bikes have been sitting in the garage just waiting for the day that we forget to plug up our scooters to charge them.
Now we are at home for the night. I’m relaxing my feet and legs and the boys are on their computers too. Check out the pictures I took today!
