HOMESCHOOLING HIGH SCHOOL
Well this was our first week of high school and it was easy we found out the entrance requirements for the colleges that Nate is interested in. Required classes are done by what the universities want and electives are what he wants to study. I am also able to use his love of writing fiction as a creative writing part of his English class so something that he enjoys doing counts for school credit.
I imagined it would be difficult to home school high school and while there have been some challenges all in all if the rest of the school year is like this week school should be easier now. I think our largest issue will be moving in a few weeks. My dream of having us moved before the start of classes for Nate and us seems to be working part way. Chuck and I start teaching on week 6 so we should be all moved before we teach. We have more ‘stuff’ to move than when we got here last year so this move will also provide a chance to purge things we really don’t need.
Back to home school though. Since we will have two dorms figuring out in which to set up sleeping and where to do school and living will be the greatest question.
Because Nate is more advanced in some classes we are able to adjust his schedule accordingly he gets credit for high school courses he took before high school and that allows us to spend necessary time on classes he needs but my not love.
