Nate and I had a great time at the Zhengzhou Science and Technology Museum today. When we got there I was very happy to see that there were children from the area schools there so that what was in Chinese we would see how to make it move. This was very similar to the Fernbank Science Museum at home with lots of the same kinds of displays and a few that aren’t at Fernbank like driving a car and a ride on a gyroscope looking device. We encountered on activity that looked like it would be fun, but it required the attendant to give instruction in Chinese we decided to bow out on that until our Chinese was such that we’d understand what was going on. We walked all over the first, second, and third floors looking at the exhibits. We took lots of pictures of what we saw and something that would not be in a museum at home is the life sciences part where they had a display of how a human baby grows in it’s mom (Nate was through then) and bodies of boy and a girl showing where different organs are and how the blood vessels and veins travel through the body. Also we saw how nerves and bones and muscle tissues weave inside the human body. This museum is defiantly for children as the hands on approach is great for learning. We also found out that Chinese children
can be as loud as American children when in a school group.
After the museum we got snacks, I got my favorite pear juice and spicy jerky sticks and Nate got a raspberry and vanilla ice cream cup and helped me with my jerky and juice. A good time was had by all, even when Chinese people came up to us and spoke in Chinese and we told them we didn’t speak yet and they just kept right on talking.
